The ideal glass is different for every type of wine. Yet they all have one similarity. It is a glass on a high base. This ensures that the temperature of the wine is not affected by hands. Another feature of a wine glass is the chalice. However, it does differ per glass in width and shape. The shape and width of the chalice often reveal what type of wine the glass is intended for.
Red wine glasses
The glasses with a wider bowl are usually intended for red wine. This ensures that enough oxygen can reach the wine and that there is enough space to swirl the wine. Another feature of these ''red wine glasses'' is that they are tapered. This ensures that the aromas remain in the glass. However, these types of glasses are not suitable for every type of red wine.
