Catering champagne glasses, what types are there?
It is of course important that the catering champagne glasses that your guests drink from match the style of your catering business. Perhaps even more importantly, they like the champagne. The type of glass can contribute to this. To allow your guests to fully enjoy champagne or another type of sparkling wine, it is important that it is drunk from the right glass. Although this may differ per species, there are a number of general aspects that you can take into account. Below you can read information about the flute, coupe and a kind of mix between the two. These are the types of champagne glasses we sell. Do you want tailor-made advice? Please contact us.
Coupe Champagne glasses
Until the mid-twentieth century, the coupe champagne glass the most popular glass to drink the bubbles from. It is also probably the most special glass to drink champagne from. The coupe is retro and exudes luxury. But not every champagne lover swears by the coupe; the bubbles dissipate relatively quickly and the wide shallow glass is also not ideal for retaining the aromas. However, the coupe has been gaining popularity again in recent years. One of our favorite coupes is the Vitta Coupe from Royal Leerdam. This shows that a simple Coupe still looks very elegant.
Flute Champagne Glasses
The beautiful, narrow flute is generally better for the aromas of the champagne than the coupe. The bubbles are preserved longer and due to the long stem, the champagne is not quickly heated by hand. Yet there is also criticism of the flute. For example, it is said that the flute is too narrow to bring out all the aromas. The flute comes in an elegant version such as the Melodia Champagne Flute, but also in a more standard version such as the Perception Champagne Flute.
Halfway between flute and coupe
Connoisseurs who do not find either ideal as a champagne glass often choose a middle path. A cross between the flute and the coupe looks a bit like a standard wine glass. An example of this is the Expert collection Champagne coupe. A standard wine glass is also sometimes referred to as the tastiest glass to drink champagne from. Which glass do you prefer?
